Unfortunately, what was planned as an uneventful trip turns into a deadly game with innocent civilians trapped amidst double agents.

Full Review: This is an unabridged recording of The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax, the sequel to The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax.

With her husband dead and children grown, Emily Pollifax is restless in her independent life with the Garden Club and the local charities. A year after her adventure as a courier for the CIA, she is once again called in when an utterly innocent-looking tourist is required in Turkey. Unfortunately, no one is what he seems in this plot full of double agents, and Mrs. Pollifax embarks on a voyage of danger, suspicion, courage and occasional humor as the ruthless villains turn out to be far more capable and well-connected than the CIA expected.

Full of unlikely coincidences and colorful characters, this novel brings to somewhat simplified life the rich culture of Turkey, as our heroine, her companions and enemies depart the touris hotels and enter the unsophisticated, beautiful and perilous countryside.

The narrator, Barbara Rosenblat, is, as usual excellent, although guilty of mispronouncing several Turkish words—an excusable offense.

This novel is lightweight, although not without danger or loss. The fast pace, charming if slightly improbable characters, and a sense of humor keep this old-fashioned adventure a pleasure still.
