Utah Map, 1860/1893

This map is a 1893(?) reprint of an 1860 Civil War map of the west.
It measures approximately 28 x 17 inches.
It was apparently printed by JULIUS BIEN & CO. LITH. N.Y.

Other info written around the sides includes: PLATE CXX and ATLAS TO ACCOMPANY THE OFFICIAL RECORDS OF THE UNION AND CONFEDERATE ARMIES, 1861-1865
The list of "Authorities" in the left center of the map includes the likes of Fremont, Gunnison, Stansbury and Escalante.
Strangly enough, this map also includes an inset on the left side that reads MARCH ROUTES OF THE ARMY OF THE TENNESSEE FROM SAVANNAH, GA. TO COLUMBIA, S.C., 1865

Unusual markings on the map indicate Wyoming as Nebraska, Idaho as Washington Terry. and Arizona as New Mexico. Most of Southern Utah and Western Colorado are identified as simply MOUNTAINOUS!

These are scanned photographs of the map, which is in nearly pristine condition, other than the time-colored paper. The closeup provides additional info, but the wide shot required a very large file to maintain readablity. The wide shot you see here is for reference... a much larger, yet fairly readable file is available.
