The Dralthi was, admitted by the Kilrathi engineers, themselves, a major design
mistake. Pressured by the Emperor to make lighter, cheaper craft, the Dralthi
was hurriedly pressed into service. It incorporated several design errors, it's
lack of heavy weaponry, it's large surface area which made for easy targetting
by enemy craft, and a faulty shield system which overloaded and melted down
if the shields were hit 5 or 6 times. The Dralthi Mark 1 was retired in favor of
it's improved offshoot, the Dralthi Mark 2.
