The K'ha'haf was the first of it's kind, specifically designed for combat in asteroid fields.
This ship gave the Kilrathi a huge advantage whenever they confronted Confederation
ships in asteroid fields, as it's rock-like exterior was almost as effective as a cloak.
This craft's heavy guns and heavy shields made it too expensive to be mass-produced,
yet enough existed to prove to the Confederation that they were a formidable craft.
