A Man for Megan by Darlene Scalera The Ultimate Series Harlequin American Romance February 1999 For anyone needing to read a story that is a bit different but very refreshing, have I got a book for you! Darlene Scarlera scores big with her first fantasy romance entitled "A Man For Megan" coming out in February 1999 From Harliquin American. She is a rising star from our own backyard and is an honored member of the Romance Writers of America Saratoga Chapter. Darlene is the second writer to be published from this group and her talent most definitely shines through. Megan is content with the way her life is going. She has a job with a printing factory that she doesnt hate, she is engaged to a man who will be a good husband and father, and she will finally be able to put down roots for the first time in her life. All in all, she cant complain. Who would have thought that by picking up a $2.00 crockpot at a yard sale, her life would be changed forever? Gino was so close to finally being free. He only had to grant 3 more wishes. Just three little, piece of cake wishes and the curse that was placed on his head would be lifted. He would then be allowed to take his rightful place as the king of his people. But after meeting Megan, he knew that it wouldnt be as easy as he had hoped. Gino has never encountered a master like Megan. He is used to greed and over indulgence, not the goodness of this woman whos only wish is what is best for others. Gino curses his half-human side that is causing the biggest downfall of his career, his falling in love with Miss Megan. Although the book is written with a light hearted subject matter it is anything but a frivolous read. The emphasis of the book is not on the "Jinni" but on the relationships and the goodness of people. Darlene is expert at mixing emotions that lead the reader to expect the unexpected. I found myself laughing at one minute and welling up with tears the next. As for my recommendation read this book and enjoy the ride! Reviewed by Katherine Scacchetti |
