The Palmetto Light Artillery was
raised by Captain Hugh R.
Garden in 1862. The men came from the
areas of Sumter, Columbia, and Cheraw in South Carolina and fought in
the Army of Northern Virginia for the rest of the war.
The modern-day Palmetto Light
Artillery is an organization of volunteers who reenact the War
Between the States in an effort to educate the public and to keep
alive the memories of those brave men and women who sacrificed so
much for the causes in which they believed.
On this site you will find
information about both the Historical
PLA and the Modern
day PLA. We have a section where you can
purchase
selected books dealing with the artillery
and the war, and we have a links
page as well.
