Served at Gettysburg, Mine Run, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. In the Jan. "&" Feb. 1865 muster roll he is reported "Furloughed for 30 days by Med. Ex. Board, from 24 Jany. "&" failed to report, his home since fallen within enemy lines."

Sent to hospital at Lynchburg, Va. on December 19, 1862. Returned to duty and saw action at Suffolk, Gettysburg, Mine Run, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania. Wounded at the Block House. Contracted Typhoid Fever and died in Wayside Hospital at Danville Va. on June 15, 1864.

MCCREIGHT, James A.; Private. Enlisted on April 30, 1862, at Sumter by Captain Garden. Present for all campaigns until April 26, 1864, when he was furloughed for 21 days. Returned to duty on May 16,1864, and served until paroled at Appomattox. 20 years old, 5'-5" tall, fair complexion, dark eyes, and dark hair.
MCINTOSH, Thomas R.; Private. Was born in 1837 to James G. and Anne McIntosh. His father was a farmer in the Lynchburg area of Sumter district. He had a considerable amount of real and personal estate. Thomas was the oldest of seven children with three younger sisters and three younger brothers. In 1860 he was living at home and working as a "Railroad Agent". Enlisted into the Palmetto Light Artillery on April 8, 1862 at Sumter by Captain Garden. Served at 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, and Suffolk. Served at Gettysburg and was No. 4 on the howitzer crew that went forward in support of Pickett's charge. In this action, on July 3, 1863, he was struck by an artillery round which tore his leg off. He died the following day and was buried on the field at Gettysburg. After the war, his body was exhumed and reburied at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.
MCQUEEN, Thomas P.; Private. Enlisted on March 22, 1862, at Sumter by Lt. W.H. Coit. Discharged in Columbia, July 1862.
MCQUEEN, William Alexander; 2nd Lt./1st Lt. The son of Rev. Donald and Clara McQueen of Sumter, Alex graduated from South Carolina College (modern day U.S.C.) and worked briefly as a teacher before enlisting in the army. Served as a sergeant in D Company, 2nd S.C. Regiment and saw action at 1st Manassas. After his year was up, he returned to Sumter and was appointed Junior 2nd Lt. in Captain Garden's Battery of Artillery. Saw action at 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, and Suffolk. He was in command of the howitzer crew that went forward in support of Pickett's charge. In this action he was wounded. Served at Mine Run, Wilderness, and at Spotsylvania, on May 8th, 1864, had his horse shot from under him Served at Cold Harbor. Personally took command of two mortars at the battle of the Crater and held the enemy in the crater until reinforcements could arrive. He was wounded again in battle on the Darbytown Road outside Richmond on October 7, 1864, and sent to Jackson Hospital. The hospital report says "V.S.R. Side M.B." (very severe right side, minie ball). He was sent home on furlough. On April 9, 1865, he was killed while commanding an artillery piece at the Battle of Dingle's Mill in defense of his hometown of Sumter.
MULDROW, James R.; Sergeant/2nd Lt. Was the son of Matthew E. and Sophrana Muldrow. His father was a farmer in the Sheloah area of Sumter district in S.C. and owned a considerable amount of real and personal estate. In 1860, James was working on the farm. Enlisted on April 8, 1862, at Sumter, S.C., by Captain Garden, as 3rd Sergeant. From June to November 1862 he is listed as "EOD as quartermaster sergeant". On May 13, 1863, he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. Served at Gettysburg, Mine Run, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. Present at Appomattox. 24 years old, 5'-8" tall, fair complexion, gray eyes, and light hair.
