The PLA is a family oriented unit with an emphasis on authenticity. We offer a variety of camping experiences ranging from a full "winter camp" at some events, all the way to camping on the gun with nothing but what we carry on our backs at other events. We are actively soliciting recruits who share our values, and we welcome their entire families to come participate if they wish.

We welcome all recruits to attend events and participate on the gun crew while training. However, there are certain requirements which must be met before a recruit is eligible for membership. These requirements were decided by the PLA membership and are subject to change. Below is a list a of the requirements along with brief explanation for some.

1. Recruit must have attended a minimum of three events with the PLA.

2. Recruit must demonstrate knowledge of at least two positions on the gun (positions one through five).

3. Recruit must own period appropriate gear consisting of a minimum of:

• canteen (Battn. requirement)
• trousers (Battn. suggests sky blue)
• shoes
• jacket (required fabric is available at cost from PLA)
• hat
• (in addition, anyone who wears eyeglasses should refrain from wearing them on the Þeld until correct period frames can be obtained)

You will have questions about gear and uniform, please ask before you buy.

4. Satisfactorily complete an interview with the unit commander in which they display a basic knowledge of artillery terms and nomenclature, including history of the unit.

5. After these requirements are met, the members may vote their approval.
