"G-d promised to send us someone who was able to save us from our sins. Someone who was capable of living a perfect sinless life. Someone who would die in our place and pay the price for our sins," Jamie explained.

"Who would be able to do that? Who would be willing to do it?" Brian found Jamie's words unbelievable.

"The only one capable of saving us was G-d Himself. G-d the Son came to earth, born of a virgin so He wouldn't inherit the sinful nature of man. He grew up being fully man and fully G-d. He was tempted in every way possible but He never sinned. Then He was put to death. It was a horrible death. He was beaten with a whip. He was spit upon; people made fun of him. They made Him carry a great big cross outside of town, then nailed His hands and feet to the cross with great big spikes. G-d the Father, placed on His son the sins of the whole world. Jesus, G-d the Son, loves you so much He died for you. Even if you were the only person on earth, He would have done it because He wants to have a personal relationship with you. He knows how awful hell is and He doesn't want you to go there. Three days later, He came back to life, conquering sin and death forever."

The boy was crying. "I had know idea, how loved I was. I don't deserve it."

"No one does, but are you ready to accept G-d's gift?" Jamie asked.

"Yes, of course. How could I reject Him after all He has done for me? What do I have to do?" Brian was choking back the tears now.

"Its very simple. First, you need to confess your sins and ask G-d to forgive your sins. Then tell Him that you accept Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection as the payment for your sins. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and life."

"Okay," he said as tears streamed down his face. "Dear G-d, I know that I am a sinner and without you I am on my way to hell. Forgive me of my sins. I accept Jesus' death on the cross as the only payment for my sins. Come into my heart L-rd Jesus and save me. Amen."

Jamie was crying too when Brian looked up. "Why are you crying?" he asked.

"I've been praying for you for such a long time. I'm so happy to know you will be in heaven with me someday."

"Thanks Jamie," Brian smiled at her. "I want to know one more thing. What happens if I do something wrong. Can I lose my salvation?"

"You see that butterfly over there, Brian," she asked.

"Yes?"

"Can that butterfly ever become a caterpillar again?"

"No that would be impossible. He is a new creature. I mean, he is still the same little guy, but he has changed so much that no matter what he did he could never become a caterpillar again!"

"It is the same thing with salvation. The Bible tells us you are a new creation in Christ Jesus. G-d has removed your sins from you as far as the west is from the east."

"Wow! Awesome!" Brian was overjoyed.

"When you became a Christian just now, the Holy Spirit came to live inside of you. He will give you guidance and direction for your life. Of course, you are going to sin, but all you need to do is to confess your sins."

"I don't want to sin!" Brian argued.

"Of course you don't. I'm sure you want to live a life pleasing to G-d."

"I do!"

"When you become a Christian, the Bible says you are a new creation. You are like a little baby and you need to do a few things to grow into a strong mature Christian." Jamie wanted to see Brian get a good start as a Christian.

"What do I need to do?" Brian asked.

"You need to pray and read your Bible regularly. Prayer is how you talk to G-d. Reading your Bible is one way G-d talks to you. You should also go to church regularly. It is important to have Christian friends and the support of a local church."

"What kind of church should I go to?"

"A church where they teach the Bible and believe it is G-d's Word. A church where they believe and teach that we've become a new creation. One more thing, G-d wants us to tell others about him."

"I'm going to tell everyone about Jesus. Let's start by going to see your father," Brian said with great enthusiasm.

Jamie and Brian hurried up the wooded path. Brian was leading the way this time. He couldn't wait to see Jamie's father and tell him the good news!
