Fantasy & Science Fiction

Bujold, Lois McMaster

Bujold wrote an excellent series of science fiction novels in a common universe of space exploration, political struggle and personal honor. Most of them deal with the Vorkosigan family, including my favorites Shards of Honor, Warrior's Apprentice, and the collection Borders of Infinity.

Cherryh, C. J.

Cherryh wrote a large number of novels, both fantasy and science fiction. Almost all are very competent, and some are very good indeed. Most SF books take place in a large and loosely connected future history, including one of my favorites, the Hugo-winning Cyteen.

Paladin is one of her best fantasy books (high on sword and light on sorcery).

A number of authors write both Fantasy and Science Fiction. However, while some of these authors include mystery elements in their books, there are very few who write genre Mystery. Therefore, we separate the favorite Mystery authors here.
