Mitch Leery - John Wesley Shipp

The Fastest Man AliveDawson's father is an all-around good guy, obsessed with creating his theme restaurant and making love to his wife. This last hobby was recently put in jeopardy when he learned she was cheating on him. After a brief period of rage he accepted her back, and the two are now in therapy trying to mend their marriage.

John Wesley Shipp will be forever immortalized in my mind as Barry Allen / The Flash in the way-too-short lived Flash TV series. Man was that show good. It's still on the Sci-Fi Channel, last bastion of crappy genre television. He has also appeared on NYPD Blue, Sisters, and numerous soap operas. Film credits include The Neverending Story 2 and Soft Deceit.

Gail Leery - Mary-Margaret Humes

Dawson's MotherDawson's mother is an anchorwoman on the local news, a job she is happy with despite that fact that she will never achieve Barbara Walters status. Recently, she decided that her life was "going too well," there was nothing else she wanted and she was unsure where to turn. As a result of this insecurity, Gail had a brief affair with Bob, her co-anchor. Word got out, drastically affecting Dawson's view of his parents "perfect" relationship and alienating her husband. The two are now in counseling.

Mary-Margaret Humes' TV credits include Eerie, Indiana, Matlock, the ever-excellent Hunter, the syndicated Renegade, and NBC's short lived series Manimal about a cop who could...uh... transform into animals. Oh, and let's not forget The Dukes Of Hazard. Her film credits include History of the World Part One and Pointman for the UPN television "network."

Mrs. Lindley - Mary Beth Peil

This May Actually Be Someone ElseMrs. Lindley is Jen's grandmother, a registered nurse who is currently caring for her sick husband (unless he's dead by now, that's not quite clear. She is a very religious woman who frowns upon people living outside of the church's teachings, such as Joey's family and even her own granddaughter Jen, who was sent to live with her to escape the evils of the city. Though she didn't like Dawson at first, she is coming to at least tolerate him.

Mary Beth Peil has done extensive theater work (I'm pretty sure that horrible picture is from one of her plays, if it's even her. Hey, you try to find pictures of some of these people. It ain't easy.) and has done films including Reckless and Jersey Girl.

Bessie Potter - Nina Repeta

Bessie is Joey's sister and primary caregiver, entrusted with her after her mother died of cancer and her father was imprisoned. She recently had a baby out of wedlock with her live-in boyfriend Bodie. This fact, combined with their inter-racial relationship, has made them the talk of Capeside. Although she and Joey do not always get along, they still love each other and recognize they are the only real family they each have.

Nina Repeta was also featured on Matlock, though not with Mary Mrgaret Humes. Film credits include Bloodmoon, Radioland Murders (poor, poor Lucas), and let's not forget USA Network's epic tale of love and loss, My Stepson, My Lover.

Bodie - Obi Ndefo

Bodie is Bessie's live-in boyfriend and, as far as I know, the only black man in all of Capeside. He is the father of Bessie's child and also seems to act somewhat as a father to Joey when he can, even helping her lie to impress a boy.

Obi Ndefo's name is spelled wrong on the Official Site and he is, as far as I know, the only black man on Dawson's Creek. He also played a Klingon on Deep Space Nine.

Tamara Jacobs - Leann Hunley

Miss JacobsMiss Jacobs was an English teacher at Capeside High, and also the woman who 15 year-old Pacey lost his virginity to. The two had a brief relationship (from The Pilot to Look Who's Talking) which ended once word got out and she moved away to live with her sister. Pacey seemed to have been in love with her and her with him, it remains to be seen whether or not she'll return to his life (pregnant with his child, perhaps?).

Leann Hunley was in three, count 'em, three episodes of the classic Battlestar Galactica, the almost-as-classic Models Inc, and the not-so-classic Misadventures Of Sheriff Lobo as well as Murder She Wrote and The Nanny. Her film credits include The Beverly Hillbillies.

Doug Whitter - Dylan Neal

Doug is Pacey's older brother, and a police officer (quite possibly the only police officer) in Capeside. He is always picking on Pacey, who he considers a screw-up, and seems to take great pride in his job. He has flirted many times with Miss Jacobs, but failed miserably where Pacey has triumphed.

Dylan Neal played a soap-opera hunk on The Bold and the Beautiful and has appeared on Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, a legend which is, thank god, no longer continuing.

Anderson Crawford - Ian Bohen

Anderson Crawford, who wins the award for most pretentious name of all time, was the sailing violinist who Joey met on the docks of Capeside. She lied to him, telling him she was rich as well, but eventually gave herself away. She threw his phone number out the window of a moving car, so we'll probably never see him again, which is just as well because he was pretty annoying.

Ian Bohen is Young Hercules on Hercules, and has also appeared on Weird Science and Townies. Eww... Townies. His film credits include something called Frankenstein Sings and young Wyatt Earp in Kevin Costner's Wyatt Earp, also known as Not Tombstone, the Other One, What's It Called? I Dunno, Didn't See It.

Abby Morgan - Monica Keena

Abby Morgan is the stereotypical "popular girl." She spent Saturday detention with Dawson, Joey, Jen and Pacey in The Breakfast Club, where she manipulated the four of them, causing a confrontation between Jen and Joey and bringing Joey's feelings to the surface,

Monica Keena was in the scary Showtime version of Snow White with Sigourney Weaver as well as the films Ripe and While You Were Sleeping. She also played Oskana Baiul in The Oskana Baiul story TV movie.

Billy Conran - Eion Bailey

BillyBilly is Jen's ex-boyfriend, who came to Capeside in Escape from New York to win her back. Jen realized she still had some feelings for him too, and in the resulting confusion she sent him back to New York and broke up with Dawson. He returned in In The Company Of Men to take Dawson and Pacey on a road trip and try yet agian to win Jen back. Once again, he failed.

Eion Bailey was featured in the Fox show Significant Others about angst-filled twenty-somethings (which was rightfully cancelled after about two episodes) and has appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. His film credits include A Better Place.

Warren Goering - Eric Balfour

Warren is Capeside's starting quarterback. He flirted briefly with Joey on a ride to school in In the Company of Men and then spread a rumor around that he slept with her. He was later forced to retract the rumor when Joey threatened to spread word of his impotence around the school.

Eric Balfour was on the TV shows Kids Incorporated, Buffy, and Boy Meets World, among others. Film credits include Trojan War with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Anthony Micheal Hall (HA!), and Lee Majors (HA! HA!).

Ursula - Jennifer McComb

Pacey picked Ursula up after she had a fight with her boyfriend in Friday the 13th. He brought her to the seance at Dawson's house where her somewhat insane mindset scared and amused everyone there. her boyfriend showed up to get her and nearly killed Pacey, prompting Joey to beat him on the head repeatedly with a frying pan.

Jennifer McComb played the homeless girl Zach fell in love with in the two part Christmas episode of Saved By The Bell, and she has also appeared on ER. She was the "excited woman" in My Best Friend's Wedding.

Mary Beth - Meghan Perry

Mary Beth was Dawson's choice for a double date with Cliff and Jen in Modern Romance. He basically used her to make Jen jealous, which she somewhat understood. She had a crush on Cliff, and used the date as a chance to get closer to him, then realized that he has no feelings for her whatsoever,

Meghan Perry has absolutely no information available on her anywhere that I can find. Therefore, this is either her first part or she was cloned and bred specifically for the episode. Which actually may explain a few things.

Cliff Elliot - Scott Foley

Cliff is the quarterback at Capeside high, and apparently one of the most popular guys there. He has flirted with Jen since she arrived, much to Dawson's dismay, and he was the first person she dated after she and Dawson broke up. Also single handedly drove his vision, Helmets of Glory through film class and onto beautiful film.. uh... video.

Scott Foley was in a TV movie entitled "Crowned and Dangerous" last year along with Gates McFadden and Yasmine Bleeth. That's about it.

Hannah Von Wedding - Lori Rom

Hannah stood Pacey up in the sixth grade before she went off to boarding school. The two met up again in Pretty Woman when they both entered the Miss Windjammer pageant and managed to insult each other at every possible moment. After they both lost, a first for Hannah, the two became closer and realized that they had a lot in common, especially their strained relationships with their parents.

All I could find on Lori was that she played Viola in a performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at Carnegie Mellon University. Whose idea was this Supporting Characters page, anyway?

Mr. Potter - Gareth Williams

Joey's father was first seen when Joey went to visit him in prison on his birthday in Breaking Away. She was reluctant at first, but eventually went back to tell him she loved him. He told her he loved her and that Dawson did as well. He's in prison for drug trafficing.

Gareth Williams has been in numerous films including Playing God, Volcano, Malcolm X, and Palookaville. His TV creditits include HBO's recent miniseries From The Earth To The Moon as well as parts on JAG and Law & Order.
