Last night (02 NOV 97) on the Discovery Channel, I saw a very well done program that consisted mainly of footage from England in 1991 and 1992. The purpose of "Mysteries of the Crop Circles" was to debunk the entire Crop Circle phenomenon, and I thought it did a pretty good job!
Many instances of hoaxing were shown, along with some very interesting methods of construction. Without a doubt, some of this has been going on since 1977. I was personally quite impressed with the techniques these folks had devised, and now that I know them, I think I can spot some dead give-aways of a hoaxed circle very easily!
First of all, this TV show took place entirely in England, yet Crop Circles have been appearing by the thousands worldwide since the late 1970's. Could that many people really be involved? Is there some sort of hoaxer network?
According to the hoaxers, (who seemed quite candid and proud of themselves) they pretty much just worked in groups of 1 to 3 people. There were only a few groups on camera, but they claimed quite a few formations throughout the English countryside. Doubtlessly, there are other hoaxers out there, but there are also certain instances of "authentic" Circles that seem to appear, regardless of their global location.
Update: It's now July, 2002, and the Crop Circles continue to appear. Generally, they are more intense and complex than ever before... often unthinkably difficult for a few good men to construct overnight, even with help from surveyors tools and the Global Positioning Sysytem. The "fact" that they are all "hoaxes" has become increasingly difficult to swallow. That is of course, unless you suspect (like I do) that this is all a military dis-information campaign conducted and created with microwave energy weaponry... which is a very real and distinct possibility!
Growth Aberrations:
- Researchers report evidence of accelerated growth. When conducting experiments using seed from inside and outside the circles, the affected seed often grew at a substantially higher rate of above ground growth, and with stronger root structure than that of the control seeds from elsewhere in the same field. This growth differed by as much as 87%, whereas agricultural specialists consider a 5% increase substantial.
Cellular Changes:
- Researchers also report evidence of cellular changes within the crops, both in direction of cell orientation and cell make-up. Crystaline particles have been identified that scientists were only able to recreate using high heat for short periods of time... they used a microwave oven in this case.
Radiation:
- Using geiger counters and other such equipment, researchers have found marked differences in levels within some Crop Circles. These hoaxers were simply using boards, rope and the like to construct their patterns; would that affect ground level radiation? Evidence of microwave-like heating has also been reported.
Watershed Displacement:
- The experts are also convinced that huge amounts of ground water near the sites have been either displaced, or have disappeared. Their explanations hinge on the possible "heating processes" used by the "aliens". My take on that info led to my "military satellite laser-type process" theory.
So, it would seem that there are still some murky questions about these things, despite the fact that some very good and talented hoaxes have been brought to the light. These hoaxers, by the way, seemed unable to explain just why they do what they do. Some felt that they just wanted to freak people out and watch them go nuts trying to solve alien mysteries.
The pair that claimed responsibility for starting the whole thing seemed a bit flaky to me. They claimed that there was a certain feeling that one gets as they contruct these things out in a field in the middle of the night. They spoke of the way the very air and sky around them seemed special, and that perhaps these symbols truly contained some sort of "je ne sais quoi".
Remember me mentioning 1977? That's when these two started, and they have the pictures to prove it.
OK, Maitreya fans... what else happened in 1977?
That's right... Maitreya allegedly manifested down from his Himalayan Mountain hangout in July '77, and blew into London, England to prepare the way for his ultimate unveiling. And, as we all know by now, Maitreya claims to be the force behind the Crop Circles!
PS: For those who know a bit about numerology (gematria), notice that the month of Maitreya's first big move toward us was 7/77...
