Some Random Thoughts

(as our world swirls down the commode)

Being a football fan, especially of the Cleveland Browns, I was able to enjoy this year's Super Bowl without really caring who won. As most of you know, the Denver Broncos pulled out an exciting win in a very well-fought contest. Without a doubt, it was the most interesting Super Bowl in years, if not purely for its balanced match-ups.

Though I tend to be a bit prejudiced against Denver for the beatings they handed Cleveland in the late 80's, I still felt glad for John Elway. He is a consumate pro, regardless of that silly horse-grin of his, and he deserves his place in NFL history. I was leaning toward Green Bay simply because of their style which reminds me of my old Brownies, but I also wanted to see the AFC finally win a championship game.

However, after the game, my mood soured a bit when I noticed some glaring differences between The Pack and The Broncs.

Those of you who stayed tuned to the post game wrap-up saw elated Denver athletes praising each other for good play and perserverance. They were extremely proud of themselves and seemed pretty cocky compared to their demeanors during the previous two "media-hype" weeks. Though I don't begrudge the Broncos for their high spirits, I remembered how the Packers handled their previous pair of Super Bowl victories...

My wife and I had been very pleased to see many Green Bay players give all the glory to God last year after they won.

Everywhere the microphones went we heard:

"I want to thank Jesus Christ..."

"God has been watching over us all season..."

"Praise the Lord for this victory..."

We giggled at the uncomfortable interviewers who obviously wanted to hear about football, but got "witnessed to" instead! It was so powerful, knowing that half the country was seeing these humble men praising God. These "heroes" were more interested in "the Real Hero" than themselves.

This year, by contrast, was disappointing. I listened carefully and only heard men praising men. Not one word of thanks directed toward The Creator. I wondered what we would hear from the losers if they were asked for their analysis? Probably "I just want to thank God for giving us another great season and keeping us safe, and allowing us to have these wonderful dream jobs! He has blessed us so much, and I give all the glory to Jesus...".

Come to think of it, I'm not surprised that they weren't asked for comments!

And then there's Mr. Clinton. Normally the President calls and congratulates the winning team over the stadium's public address system. Not this year! I'm certain he thought there would be way too much booing from his betrayed constituents...

Since we have yet to see the finish of this political "big game", I won't comment much. However, I will say that his true colors are finally showing up vividly. Character does matter after all!

Of course, we would all forget about his little indescretion if bombs started falling on Baghdad, right? (Do I hear a dog's tail wagging?)

Did anyone notice that while the Pope was in Cuba, he was calling for unity? Or that he seemed ready to keel over any minute? Is something (or someone) new on the horizon?
The Stock Market is a strange animal, and one of it's idiosyncrasies seems to be this: When an "old guard" NFL team wins the big one, the market usually responds with an up year. If an upstart team like the Broncos happens to win, it often turns downward. Though this is an incredibly unscientific measuring tool, it has held true far more often than not for whatever reason!

The market also seems to turn bearish, have a large correction or even a crash soon after major planetary alignments. This strange coincidence has held true for virtually every such event since the Great Depression. Oddly enough, we just had one "sky show" a few weeks ago, and are about to see another in the coming week.

Gold Prices, which have endured a huge slump in the past year, seem to be recovering from 18 year lows. Asian markets are extremely jittery and have fallen by huge percentages recently. These and many other factors have folks like me expecting the worst at any time. We believe this financially precarious bubble is about to explode and cause major economic changes. Heck, even Maitreya has predicted a major stock crash beginning in Japan!

Here's a fresh report from J. Adams who follows this kind of thing very seriously.

Though I may seem to be rambling, my point is this: I am becoming more convinced every day that things are nearly lined up for the ultimate scenario.

I expect the entire world to undergo sweeping changes this year, or perhaps next year. I'm not "setting dates" here, but for some unknown reason, my gut tells me that 1997 was our Last Hurrah. My prediction is that the geo-political, economic and religious balances are about to go haywire, ushering in the ultimate fate that we have seen coming for so many years. In all my years of "Rapture watching" I have never been so amazed at the way everything is poised for catastrophic change.

I praise God for the blessed assurance in Jesus Christ that I've received by following Him. Frankly, I don't know how men can contain their fears of the unknown without the knowledge of God to comfort them! The Bible's prophecies for the End of the Age don't seem so strange or ludicrous any more... rather they seem to be dead on the mark!

Recently, I found this page of quotes from our "world leaders" and it sent a chill up my spine! Please read it; you will then understand why I might have felt suicidal if not for the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and the Perfect Plan of God! I will warn you, it is very depressing and very enlightening at the same time:

Quotes From World Leaders

I am not trying to scare you into "getting religion" because religion doesn't help. What we all need is Jesus Christ as our personal Lord, Saviour and Friend. It's time to get serious, folks... you don't want to be without Him when things turn bad! If you are a "fence-sitting Christian", it's time to choose. Don't get left behind.

God doesn't damn people to Hell, we damn ourselves by rejecting Him and His wonderfully merciful free offer:
