How To Be A Friend To An Alzheimers Caregiver.
Caring for a loved one with dementia can be an extremely stressful and challenging experience. It need not be a lonely one, but unfortunately for many caregivers, it is. Isolation can be damaging to both the caregiver and the patient.
Many caregivers relate they lose friends who don't understand what they are experiencing. Friends and neighbors are often afraid to offer comfort and support because they don't know how.
AD is a long-term disease. The caregiving responsibilities increase as the disease progresses. Friends and neighbors need to offer ongoing support to families experiencing the effects of this devastating disease.
Lyn and Bill Roche know first-hand the affects of AD on families. The success of their "A Breath Of Fresh Air" workshops birthed their presentation to friends of Alzheimer's families. It is called "How To Be A Friend To An Alzheimer's Caregiver". It is also a user-friendly, non-technical experience for people who want a greater awareness of AD and desire to help families struggling with this long-term illness.
Through the presentation you will learn many ways of helpingfrom being a good listener to giving the caregiver some well-needed respite. After attending this insightful session, you will be better able to discern areas you may, or may not be comfortable in.
Free, informative literature is available after each presentation as well as the opportunity to purchase autographed copies of "Coping With Caring". A portion of the proceeds are donated to Alzheimer's research.
This presentation has proven a favorite among Stephen Ministers.
Don't miss this unique opportunity for your group.
