For Entertainment Today.............
This Ain't Your Mama's Cabaret! is billed as a "nontraditional musical revue featuring one woman, eight dancers and 26 songs." Hard to guess what might be expected from a tag such as that, but this is one show filled with a multitude of pleasant surprises……………..
David is also lucky to be joined by those eight gifted singer/dancers who perform around her, particularly Josh Ekblom, who deserves such a show of his own; ………………..
the Versace-attituded Zach Hensler; and the equally pint-sized and big-voiced Santo Ragno, who states in his bio he's "thrilled to finally meet a woman who measures up to him."…………..
But listen up. Trim this sucker down, stick with the frequent flashes of innocent nudity and irresistibly ribald humor, and This Ain't Your Mama's Cabaret! could just play Bally's. And if anyone deserves her name up in 20-foot lights on the Vegas Strip, it is that knockout little accountant from The House of Blues herself. Tonya Louise David has, without a doubt, all the gifts to be a world-class talent.
