Starting piano lessons at the age of four, I could read music before I could read words. My parents had to make me practice
back then, but now I am glad that they did. My father instilled in us the concept that we should not be mediocre, but rather
we should strive for excellence. The study of music has taught me the joy in working hard, not giving up until the goal is
met. At the age of ten I heard the cello and fell in love with its sound. It has since become my carreer.
Following graduation from Addison Trail High School in Addison, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, I received my BM degree from
Indiana University and my MM degree from SUNY at Stony Brook. My first job was in the beautiful islands of Hawaii, where I
played in the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. My next job was in my current position with the Phoenix Symphony. I never expected
to live on an island or in a desert. Only God knows what the next chapter will bring.
I have been married to my wife, Barbara, since March 23, 1991. Parenting our beautiful twelve year old daughter is a
real joy. We are constantly working to become better parents.
My life as a cellist has been very rewarding. I love performing as a chamber musician, symphony member and soloist. The
money is not as overflowing as it might be in some other fields, but the rewards are great in other ways.
We attend the Grace Community Church in Tempe, AZ and we have a family membership at the Ahwatukee YMCA.
