Museum Collection

These pendants and brooches are reproductions of jewelry pieces from the Renaissance found in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum in England plus various other museums in the United States. They are cast in pewter by the lost-wax method and plated in sterling silver or 24 kt. gold. All pieces have a lacquered protective finish. In cases where the original jewelry shows signs of age, the replicas are antiqued to match.

"Elizabeth I" Brooch

This small brooch is a replica of a 16th century intaglio. The original engraved gem is onyx and one of the finest cameo portraits of Queen Elizabeth in existence. Four faux pearls are attached to the outer edge of the oval brooch. Beautiful enough for royalty!

COPTIC CROSSES

Ethiopia is one of the earliest Christian kingdoms in the world. There Christianity dates back as early as A.D.227, when the dynasty that ruled until 1975 was founded. These emperors could trace their ancestry back to Solomon and Sheba and were instrumental in making the cross a national symbol for Christianity. In the 15th Century, Emperor Zara Ya'Eqob of Ethiopia decreed that every Christian should wear a neck cross so that they could be recognized among the heathen masses.

This coptic cross has a cross formy within a circle above the hinge. Another cross formy within a circle is surrounded by a eight-pointed star below the hinge.

The Vatican Library Collection

The Vatican Libary was officially founded by Pope Nicholas V in the year 1450 and includes some of the greatest artistic works in existence. The Vatican Library Collection of Jewelry and Gifts contains authentic recreations inspired by the historical masterpieces found within the library. Cross Locket Brooch

This piece was inspired by sculptures and paintings from the ceiling of the magnificent library's Sistine Salon, built in 1580. Faux garnet stones embellish both the bar and locket. The bar pin is 1 1/4" x 1/4" and the locket is 7/8" x 1 1/4". The overall height of the piece is 1 7/8".

This locket is enameled in a vibrant dark red and has aurora borealis crystals adorning the ornately sculpted cross design on the front. The hinged door opens to reveal a golden frame for a picture. The locket measures 1 1/4" by 2" (including the enameled bail. It is on a 30" chain with a lobster claw clasp. Absolutely stunning!
