2000 Dweebie® Awards!

So, just what is a Dweebie®? A Dweebie is an award given to an element on someone's personal home page. To receive the Dweebie, that element must have a distinctly dweebish nature to it. A Dweebie can be given for anything from The Most Promiscuous Use of the Word "Actual", to The Ugliest Picture of a Fish On a Personal Home Page. In general, Dweebies are only given to individuals, but that's just a guideline -- the official Dweebie judges may decide a non-personal home page is deserving of the honor.

The judges are continuing to evaluate what pages are deserving of a Dweebie. Meanwhile, the following pages have been selected:

Most Promiscuous Use of the Word "Actual"

The first Dweebie award naturally goes to the creator of the Dweebie awards! The Harpo! page receives the award for excessive use of the word "Actual" in a single sentence.

The Ugliest Picture of a Fish on a Personal Home Page

Although he got the picture from somewhere else, Sturge decided to put his Sturgeon picture on his own page! For adding ugliness to the world, Sturge receives this prestigious award!

The Best Impersonation of "Star Search"

Sue Ellen managed to find some new talent. Should John quit his day job? Listen and vote!

Having A Day

The Abit Limited page is providing an incredible demonstration of broadcast automation by means of the totally automated broadcast message telling you to have a nice day! Isn't that just splendid?

Best Icon Hitman

Ever get tired of those blasted smiley faces? Well, Rick 'Talos' Young has finally done something about it! Go pay your respects to the deceased smiley face on Rick's page.

Heading In The Right Direction

Finally, a web page has been found that shows that there is hope for the future. While they are still young, The Future Nerds Of America have started their geeking right!

Do Your Part!

As much as they'd like to, the judges cannot spend every waking moment scanning the web, so they could use your help in finding more 1999 Dweebie Award winners. Now is your chance to nominate someone's web page for a Dweebie. Just click this ->spot<- and indicate a subject of "Dweebie Award Nomination." In the body of the message, give the URL of the web page to be nominated, and the element on that page that you feel is worthy of a Dweebie. You may suggest a category, if you like, but don't worry if you can't come up with one -- our judges will find the category. Please be specific in why you think the element should earn a Dweebie. Award winners will soon be posted on this page. Remember, judges decisions are final! They have been charged with the duty of maintaining the integrity of the Dweebie Awards, so what they say goes!

Submit those pages -- The Dweebie got off to a good start in 1996, and was even better in 1997 and 1998, with a bit of a slowdown in 1999.  Now, you can help make 2000 the Year of the Dweebie!
