When I started Advanced Smalltalk in September of 1994, I had intended to write a book that would be different from those that I had already read. A book that included different and useful information. Nearly two years later, that book is going to press, and will be available in October 1996. During the period that I wrote this book, many things changed, including my publisher. I tried to include information that would be somewhat "timeless" so that the book will continue to be useful into the future. Since things always change, I will continue to update portions of the book, respond to your questions, and provide enhancements and additions to the book on this site.
Some items that would have been nice to include in the book, but were not able to be included will appear here. So far the suggestions I've gotten are:
- Textbook type exercises and answers.
- An online search mechanism for key terms.
Please send me your suggestions,
and I will put them up here. If there is enough interest, and I have the
means to do so, I will create these enhancements.
I had originally intended to put up parts of the book on-line, but that was when I was "between publishers" and now that I've sold all my rights, I cannot post portions of the book. As I mentioned above, I will put up additions and (hopefully few) corrections. The table of contents has been changed since I put it up. The revised table of contents is included on another page.
I hope that you find my writing to be informative and easy to read.
