EXPERIENCE

Avue Technologies, Tacoma, Washington

Oracle Database Administrator, 2009-2010

As an Oracle DBA, supported Oracle 9i (9.2.0.8) databases on Sun Solaris 10 servers for development, QA, staging, and production for Avue web-based applications that provided Federal Government agencies with HR management tools and job seekers with a portal to apply for federal employment.  The application was built under Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 release.  Also provided support for Workbrain databases as part of a pilot project to provide Time and Attendance functionality to customers.  Additionally, managed data extraction from Federal government mainframe systems which were then imported into Avue's databases.  The data extraction involved in part executing Focus programs on the mainframe and then moving the resultant data file to Windows and later to Unix.

Weyerhaeuser Company, Federal Way, Washington

Senior Specialist-Database Analyst, 1998-2008

As development and operational DBA, supported over 50 Oracle databases (Oracle7 through 10gR2) across over 20 servers (both HP-UX and Windows 2000/2003) and over 30 Microsoft SQL Server databases (2000 and 2005 versions) across six servers.  Maintained Oracle Names repository running under Oracle9i, and coordinated migration to Oracle Internet Directory (OID) as replacement for Oracle Names functionality.  Coordinated with developers in SQL tuning and debugging PL/SQL procedures.  Support provided to mission critical applications in Corporate HR, Containerboard Packaging, Fine Paper, and Cellulose Fibers business units to include support to divestiture efforts when some business units were sold.  This support included physical standby databases for some of the systems.

Boeing Information and Support Services, Renton, Washington

Database Administrator/Business Systems Programmer Analyst, 1995-1998

As programmer and operational DBA, coordinated with Security and Fire Protection Computing Support Organization to support Investigative Files system INDICES—hosted on VAX using SQL*Forms and SQL*Reportwriter for user interface and ORACLE RDBMS for database.  Oversaw DBA duties for surplus property management and company offices systems support.

Business Systems Programmer Analyst, Level 4, 1994-1995

Coordinated with Company Offices Systems Support Organization in supporting Executive Management Information Service (EMIS) system—a client/server application with C language code running on PC’s and ORACLE database on

VAX with PRO*C component interface.  Oversaw support applications developed in Visual BASIC and SQL*Menu/SQL*Forms.  Spearheaded formation of Boeing ORACLE User Group leadership steering committee.

Product Manufacturing Systems Programmer Analyst, Level 2, 1992-1994

Developer with Shop Order Exection (SOE) Applications Development, supporting development and maintenance of client SOE system under OS/2, functioning as part of Boeing Shop Floor System.  Code was in C, and some modules were developed with embedded SQL (Pro*C) for access of client/server ORACLE database.  User interface was developed in IBM’s Presentation Manager.  Supported UNIX and OS/2-based SOE client with development and maintenance of User-Maintained Tables application, created with SQL*Menu and SQL*Forms.  Completed special assignment in developing prototype user interface and reports for Integrated Blanket Information System (IBIS), using SQL*Menu, SQL*Forms, SQL*Plus, and PL/SQL.

Systems Analyst Computing, 1990-1992

Developer on SMARTS software project (automation system for Sheet Metal Center), a part of Boeing Shop Floor Systems.  Held responsibility for Error Logger System (ELS), written in C with embedded SQL accessing ORACLE database.  Developed user interface for querying errors in SQL*Forms, and wrote utility providing data unload capability to complement ORACLE’s SQL*Loader, providing archive/restore capability for ELS database.
