2.  ELLEN2 DEVER (DEVER1) was born Abt. 1845 in Ireland, and died Bef. 1891 in PA.  She married EDWARD MCGEADY Abt. 1864, son of JOHN MCGEADY and NANCY WATERS.  He was born December 18, 1842 in Ireland, and died 1918.

Notes for EDWARD MCGEADY:
DOB was December 1845 in this database,  based on the 1900 Census, which said he came to US in 1846. possibly misreading a 2 as a 5.
1860 Census reports his age as 15.
However, in a Civil War Pension application, Edward McGeady gave his date of birth as December 18, 1842.  That is the source of that date here in this database.
Ed Crwley had 1845, Donegal, Ireland as Place of birth.
DoD 1918, settled=East Mauch Chunk, PA & Bethlehem, PA, per Ed Crowley.

Per Ed Crowley, from Paul McGeady:  Bureau of Pensions Signed May 4, 1898, gave list of living children.  Catherine and Annie NOT listed.DOB was December 1845 in this database,  based on the 1900 Census, which said he came to US in 1846. possibly misreading a 2 as a 5.
1860 Census reports his age as 15.

Notes for ELLEN E. MCGEADY:
Joan and Sissy remember McCrossins of Palmyra associated with their father's family.
Sissy met the McCrossins when she was 18, around 1951.  Joan and Mother and Daddy went.  They were very dignified, sophisticated people.  Intelligent.  Nice. Very gracious, lived in a lovely home.  Saw that all Mother had told her was true.

The McCrossins were in the Real Estate business.

He was Superintendent of the Veterans Home in Vineland.

3.  CHARLES E.3 MCGEADY (ELLEN2 DEVER, DEVER1) was born March 07, 1878 in East Much Chunk, Bethlehem, PA*, and died July 1938 in Philadelphia, PA.  He married MARY A. BRENNAN Abt. 1902, daughter of THOMAS BRENNAN and JULIA MCGRATH.  She was born September 1883 in Schuykill County, PA, and died September 24, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA.

In 1910 Census, address listed as 1726 Lowe or Rowan Street, Phila.
Along with brother Charles E. (Mary McGeady Taylor's father), took part in the Spanish American War in the 5th Ohio Infantry returning to Sheffield, Ohio. Per Ed Crowley & Paul McGeady.
Per Ed Crowley: dob March 7, 1878.In 1910 Census, address listed as 1726Lowe or Rowan Street, Phila.

He had tryouts with the Phila As, and Julia went down and told them he was an alcoholic, he left his children, etc. so he never got the tryouts.  According to Joan's Aunts & Uncles, Julia was very vindictive. Never wanted Mary to marry him.  Mother didn't know why she didn't wantthem to marry.

Joan:  when my grandfather died, we were living on Locust Ave. in Long Beach,  CA and Momma was crying.  She said a letter, I think from Uncle Ned.  I was about 9.  It may have been 1936-37.  I think I was in first grade, Sissy was in kindergarten.  I wouldn't swear that we both came home together or the 3 of us were there.  Maybe she had afternoon classes. 8/18/98

   i.    EDWARD4 MCGEADY, b. Abt. 1903; d. Abt. 1956, Philadelphia.

Notes for EDWARD MCGEADY:
Joan:  Uncle Ned was 53 when he died.

Mary:  He was a Christian Brother.

Joan:  Brother Gratian was his name.  He taught at LaSalle.  Joan thinks he may have been a Jesuit.  Uncle Ned taught Math, Calculus, and hockey.
