If you get to Ireland before that:
To get to Redwood Castle from Birr, go west towards Portuma along the T41 for 8 miles.  A road going north will have a sign:

CAISLEAN CHOILLTE RUA
REDWOD CASTLE 2 miles
(Mac Egan Castle)

This road will take you there.
