Title

# of Episodes/ Tapes

Brief Description

Card Captor Sakura

(7 tapes, Episodes 1-19 and 21-25 with TV specials on 4th and 5th tape - cast interviews, etc.)

Yes, this is the Card Captor that everyone seems to enjoy. Young Kinomoto Sakura accidentally scatters a deck of tarot like magical cards and then finds herself drafted to capture the wayward cards. Quality animation, although the story is a bit limited

Carol

(1 Hour)

An interesting variation on the Alice in Wonderland Motif. Here the girl sees people who look like members of a band she likes.

Cat's Eye

73 episodes (19 tapes - 4 episodes per tape, last tape has opening & closing songs without credits)

This is set in the world of City Hunter. Three young ladies who own/run a café called Cat's Eye are looking for their missing father. To find out why he disappeared, they have begun stealing works of art he created. Opposing them is Toshi - a bumbling, but kind hearted member of the local police force, who is also the boyfriend of Hitomi, the middle sister in the group. Lots of close calls and great action.

Again this is highly recommended, especially if you like City Hunter or Lupin III

Clamp in Wonderland

(10 Minutes)

A music video put out by the wonderful artists of the Clamp studio and staring characters from all of their popular anime series.

Desert Rose

(1 Hour)

Elementalors

(1 Hour - Fansub)

A war has broken out on earth between various clans that call on the spirits of nature and a young man finds himself the focus of the battle

Gall Force Ladies Live

(1 Hour)

Live recording of one of the concerts staring the Seiyuu of Gall Force.

Ghost Sweeper Mikami

49 episodes in Japanese with Fansubbed movie on last tape (13 tapes - 4 episodes per tape)

If you like Ghostbusters and/or good comedy this series is for you. The main character is Ghost Sweeper (professional exorcist) Mikami Reiko. She's very good, and also extremely greedy. He rates are amazingly high. The supporting cast is almost as good. Meiko - a young girl who controls 12 shikagamis, but they go berserk if she is upset and Dr. Chaos - an aging alchemist who wants to take over Mikami's body add more sillyness and bizarre tricks.

This is not recommended for very young children, but otherwise I recommend it highly.

Gulliver Boy

13 tapes - episodes 1-36, 38-45, 50

Good series dealing with magic, science and just about every combination in between. I like the character designs.

Hana Yori Dango

13 tapes – 51 episodes and anime movie

Good series about a young girl and the men in her life as she struggles through high school.

Hisakawa Aya - Mail 3 - First Live

1 hour

The LD from Aya's concert performed 12/22/94. Good music and a great look at backstage before the concert.

Idol Defense Force Hummingbird

2 tapes, 4 episodes - episode 1 is a Nexus Fansub

What would happen if you combined fighter pilots and idols. This series takes a humorous and musical look at the idea in a world where private corporations are allowed to field units for the Japan Defense Force.

Idol defense Force Hummingbird - Summer Aviation Tour '93

1 Hour

Concert starting the Seiyuu from the OVAs. Great Music.

Idol Defense Force Hummingbird - Final Concert

1 Hour

Another concert. This has great costuming and music. Worth seeing.

Idol Project

3 episodes raw - episode 4 subtitled (1 tape)

Despairing because all these seem to be long series. Fear not here is one short OVA series for you. This series follows the adventures of idol wannabe Mimu Emilton. It begins with her appearing for a special audition for the position of Excellent Idol, but things don't work at quite as simple as that, and our 15 year old girl winds up exploring the universe with the 6 Excellent Idols.

For those who like the music associated with anime I can't recommend this series enough. The music is good, and is supported by one of the better groups of voice actors I've encountered, including, Inoue Kikuko (Tendo Kasumi in Ranma 1/2 and Belldandy in Ah! Megami-sama), Nishimura Chinami (Shiratori Nagisa from Chou Kuseninarisou), Orikasa Ai (Ryoko from Tenchi), Hisakawa Aya (Suzuki Arimi from Marmalade Boy and Skuld from Ah! Megami-sama) and with Kouda Mariko playing the voice of Mimu (Koishikawa Miki from Marmalade Boy).

Idol Tenshi Youkoso Yoko

41 episodes, 11 tapes

Two young girls come to Tokyo to be Idols. This series was a successor to Densetsu Idol Eriko.

Kaitou St. Tail

43 episodes (11 tapes - 4 episodes per tape)

This series is another excellent magical girls series. Here people often bring their troubles to a 14 year old girl - Seira - who is a nun in training. Many have had items swindled or stolen from them, but in a way that going to the police would not help. Enter Seira's best friend who as St. Tail robs the thieves and helps those in need. (A modern day female Robin Hood.) St. Tail uses a combination of cat burglary and magic to steal items, and the only thing hindering her efforts is the efforts of her classmate Asaka Jr, who has vowed to capture the ellusive St. Tail.

Kakyuusei

(2 tape, 4 episodes)

A coming of age story involving a number of attractive young girls and the boy that interests them. This is a Studio Elf work, and their skill and care show through. Despite its classification as an adult title, this series is well written, extremely well animated, and a definite change from most etchi titles you can find in the US. first 3 episodes are for all ages and there are 2 different 4th episodes. One for people under 18 and one for adults.

[anyone can request this, but I need proof of age to send the adult 4th episode]

Legendary Idol Eriko

(13 tapes, 51 episodes)

Another shoujo series (this one came out in 1989-1990) that is recommended very highly by people who have watched it - including me. Tamura Eriko's trials and triumphs as she experiences the cutthroat world of show business after her father is killed in an automobile accident. Her uncle at first tries to control her debut and after a family friend takes over as her manager tried to destroy her career. Add in jealous rivals, getting kicked out of school and the long hours practicing and performing, and it's amazing that this young girl stays as happy and energetic. This series has one of the best soundtracks I've heard yet, and the storyline is amazingly detailed. I cannot recommend this series enough.

Legendary Love Angel Wedding Peach

(14 tapes, last includes first concert)

Another excellent magical girls series. Evil is trying to rid the world of love, and three girls are chosen by Aphrodite to defend love as the Legendary Love Angels. The costumes are great, and the characters fascinating. And has one of the better endings I've seen in a magical girls series. No Usagi clones here.

Legendary Love Angel Wedding Peach concerts 2 and 3

(1 tape)

2 live concerts featuring the voice actresses who provided the voices of the Love Angels.

Legendary Love Angel Wedding Peach DX OVAs

(1 tape)

Continuing the story from the TV Series. (It is recommended that you watch the series first.)

Mahou No Tenshi Creamy Mami (Magical Angel Creamy Mami)

52 Episodes , 13 tapes

One of the Studio Pierrot magical girl series from the 80's

Mahou No Yousei Pelsia (Magical Fairy Pelsia)

48 episodes, 12 tapes

Another of the Studio Pierrot series that defined and expanded the magical girls genre during the '80s.

Majoko Megu-Chan

72 episodes ( 15 tapes - 5 episodes per tape no opening or closing in middle episodes, last tape has complete opening and closing animations with TV specials - as well as complete openings for many other magical girls series)

This series tells the story of a young princess of the magic world who comes to earth to live in a normal home while proving she is worthy of being queen.

This is one of the earlier "magical girl" series and is surprisingly good. The animation is somewhat dated as it was first broadcast in 1974, but the energy of the characters is readily apparent.

Note: this is a difficult to find series due to its age, but its worth seeing if you like shoujo anime.

Margaret OVAs

4 episodes, 1 tape

Minky Momo '82 Series

17 Tapes

Classic Magical Girl Series. (I haven't had a chance to watch this yet.)

Minky Momo '92 Series

17 Tapes

A newer version of the popular series.

Princess Army Wedding Combat

2 episodes, 1 tape - with 1 hour of time left

A young high school girl's peaceful life with her brother's is shattered when a family friend returns to fulfill a promise to make sure she marries his son. Other male friends try to prevent this with the usual heartache and humor.

Shamanic Princess

(2 tapes, 6 episodes)

This is the one of the best OVAs to come out in the last 3 years. Great character designs and story.
