The pictured Gestetner mimeograph equipment is available for sale or trade - except the 120. I have decided to keep that museum piece.
There are three mimeographs, weighing about 50 lbs each:
- Gestetner 120 (S/N 437874), metal shell carrying case, excellent condition. NFS
- Gestetner 300 (S/N 14A0158) - parts machine.
- Two Gestetner 320 (S/N 14A460, 29A8600), electric, excellent condition - both SOLD as of October 2008
Anybody know how to date these serial numbers?
The Gestefax high-voltage electronic stencil maker weighs 82 lbs. Includes partial set of extra Gestefax styli in original case. I will leave the picture up for whatever interest there may be, but the machine no longer exists. It was a Model 451, S/N 3992, made in "Western Germany" (which would date it to a few years after WWII) for the Gestetner Corp. of Yonkers NY. I discovered that the traverse mechanism was rusted in the right-most position and only 7 of the 11 tubes would light. Since it was useless and I wanted to be rid of it, I have disassembled it, salvaging the tubes, the scanner module, and the stylus holder. There were three motors and five transformers in it, and large castings over a half inch thick. The electrical parts were all German-made by Hell or AEG. The salvaged parts will go to another fan who may need spares.
