Bismark & Hardt Kasernes,
Pershing and Schwabisch Gmund

I was stationed at Bismark Kaserne while in the U.S. Army from June 1986 - April 1988. I was in D co. 38th Signal Battalion, First Platoon. My rank was SP4/E4 and my MOS was 31M (Multi Channel Communications). I got out of the army when I left Gmund in '88. Click here for a short bio and picture of me. If you knew me then or were there, email me at; paredes@sprynet.com

If you are wondering what has happened to the millitary installations; Bismark Kaserne became a campus of the University of Maryland, but it was closed and remains empty as of June 2002 (see below) Hardt Kaserne is known to be "a asylum seekers site. People from Romania and the east countries gain(ed) refuge there." (After the wall "fell") The Hardt housing area "is still an apartment area." And Mutlangen storage area is just that, "it is now a storage area for farmers (hay and other stuff)." - All quotes from Daniel Laizure

*note Daniel use to have the website Schwabisch Gmund Online, I had heard he moved back to Germany, his web address is now active again but it no longer contains Schwabisch Gmund information.
