Arden Folk Dance Gild

February – March 2010 Schedule

February 10 Wed. Liz Dubravcic (folk dancing) and Dave Brown (Squares)

7:30 – 9:30 PM $4, $5.

February 17 Wed. Jenny Brown Folk dancing 7:30 – 9:30 PM $4, $5.

February 20 Saturday Indian Pakistani Dinner cooked by the Folk Dance Gild.

6 PM Dinner starts.

The menu may be in three languages: Hindu, Arabic, and English.

This is the most delicious dinner ! in the Lower Gild Hall

and adjoining rooms. Bring wine if you like (over 21 only, please) glasses available.

For reservations please call 792-7139 by 6:00 p.m. Thursday. When reserving

your dinner(s), and specify vegetarian alternative. Please note: no-shows will be billed.

Prices are: Arden Club members $9, nonmembers $11 and children $5. Please

reserve the latest the Thursday before: February 18^th.

Please remember our no-show policy - if you cannot come to the

dinner, cancel your reservation before Thursday at 5:00 p.m. or you

will be billed. Parking is limited and is shared with patrons

attending events in the Gild Hall and the Buzz Ware Village Center

across the street. So, if possible, please carpool, walk, or bike.

February 21^st Sunday Special Sweetheart Community Dance

2:30 PM to 4:00 PM $6, $5, children 12 and under $2. Very special guests:

Chris and Rita Leydon will lead lively Scandinavian Swedish and Sweetheart

dances for all ages and abilities. Children will love folk tales, magical creatures

& Dance of the trolls and craft. Educational fun and enchanting entertainment

for all. Music by Nancy Browne, Ruthanne E. Ankney, Kevin O’Brien.

March 7^th Sunday Raise the Roof (band) with Tori Barone calling

April 4^th Sunday We’re very excited to welcome the Maine-based band, Perpetual

Perpetual e-Motion, which has been setting New England on fire! And an

added bonus: Tom Hinds, visiting from Virginia, will be calling the dances!

1:30 PM – 2 PM Dance lesson, 2 – 5 PM Contra dance $9, $10.

May 2 - Kathy Angell, from Baltimore, calls to "Strings on Wings" -- Todd Clewell on guitar, Barb Schmid on fiddle, and Glenn Carson on banjo, fiddle, mandolin.

Cinnaminson FOLK Dance 1^st Saturday night of each month starting from

8:30 – 10:30 PM.

International Folk Dance

Please come and join us for an evening of request dancing in the beautiful new gymnasium at Westfield Friends Meeting House. We hope this will be the first of many first Saturday International Dance Parties. Bill and Carol Wadlinger will DJ. Steve Clarke, Jenny Brown, Sue Anderson, Becky Davidson, and Rita Stewart Coleman have also agreed to take turns DJ'ing in subsequent months. We welcome additional volunteers. The suggested donation is $3 and we're hoping that folks will bring snacks to share at the break.

Directions to the Arden Gild Hall: From Wilmington Take I-95 North. Exit at Harvey Rd. and turn left on to Harvey Rd. Follow for approx. 1 mile. Passing blinking light at the Montessori school and pass T-intersection at Veale Rd., turn left at the next traffic light at Orleans Rd. to the fork and take the left fork which is called The Highway, to the Gild Hall. Parking beyond the Hall. From Philadelphia: Take I-95 South to exit 11 to Route 92/Naamans Rd via I-495 (first exit after crossing the DE/PA line). Keep right and continue West on Naamans Rd for approx. 1.7 miles. Turn left at Marsh Rd (RT 3) and continue for 1 mile to traffic light. Turn left on to Harvey Rd.. and then right on Orleans Rd. Follow Orleans Rd. to the fork and take the left fork which is called The Highway, to the Gild Hall. Parking beyond the Gild Hall.
