Grammatical terms, part 1
->subject: the person or thing doing the action; doer; performer
->object: the receiver of the action
a. direct object: the object directly affected
b. indirect object: the object indirectly affected
->1. noun: person, place, or thing
->2. pronoun: a word that replaces a noun;
antecedent: the noun which a pronoun refers to
a. subject pronoun: a pronoun used as a subject; aide: __did it
b. object pronoun: a pronoun used as an object; aide: she hit __
-> 3. verb: word that expresses action or state of being
-> 4. adjective: a word that describes a noun or pronoun [small, green, angry]
Special adjectival forms are called articles. [the, an, a]
infinitive: a verbal noun (a noun that has characteristics of a verb);
'to' + verb (in the present tense)
diphthong: a pair of vowels merged into almost one sound
predicate: the verb in its fullest form [He will have seen her by now.]
address: the person, number, (& tense) [ex: 1st person singular (present)]
parse: tell the complete address
conjugation: the joining of a stem and its ending
