NEW RECIPES
More new recipes; the good folk at Cooking Light bring us Chicken Fricassee with Orzo, and for afterwards there's Golden Butter Cream Cake.

Recipes have been edited or annotated for clarity, but the ingredients etc. have not been altered from the original published version, and I have done my best to give credit where due.

Garlic puffs are an easy party hit.

Pasta
Mushroom Persillade is an easy, quick-cooking sauce full of flavor.
Tortellini with Tomato-Cream Sauce isn't exactly light but it is quick, simple, and delicious.
Ziti with Broccoli and White Beans - vegetarian, high vitamin, and even the olive oil's supposed to be good for you. And the ingredient list is so easy even I can memorize it.

Fish

Game Hens in White Wine with Herbs is classy without being fussy. I ended up making this on a Sunday when a sale meant game hens were cheaper than chicken.
Ginger Chicken Saute is another "no time for grocery shopping" main dish.
Honey-Mustard Baked Chicken—simply scrumptious.
Noodles Chicken Divan is handy when you have leftover chicken.
Sauteed Chicken Breasts with Fennel and Rosemary
Spicy Thai Chicken Pasta is fast, tasty, and somewhat exotic.

Beef
Hoisin Beef With Shiitake Mushroom Sauce for two; well worth the effort on a weekend or special occasion.
Mom's Fast Chili is another good one to keep handy for emergencies.
Steak au Poivre, a simple, delicious classic.

Baking
A favorite from my childhood, Cookie Kisses are ever-popular.
Dark-Chocolate Soufflé Cake is perfect for special celebrations; don't be daunted by the ingredient list or the number of steps.
Country White Bread makes storebought seem boring.
Lemon Poppy Seed Cookies from the redoubtable Mrs. Fields.
