History: "I am coming to put you on trial and I shall be a ready witness against sorcerers, adulterers, perjurers, and against those who oppress the wage-earner, the widow and the orphan, and who rob the foreigner of his rights and do not respect me, says Yahweh Sabaoth." Malachi 3:5

Sam Wilson put himself through college on a sports scholarship, his talent for football paying for his dual major in Law and Law Enforcement. It was also during college that he began to notice his body wasn't quite normal. He was stronger than should be, and faster, more resistant to damage, and capable of healing at a phenomenal rate. It was also during college that he began to hear the word "mutant." He carefully kept things hidden and eventually graduated Magna Cum Laude in both of his majors.

After graduation, Sam moved back to Harlem to his father's parish, and began working to help his neighborhood out. Local boy makes good is a powerful example, and social work is something Sam is good at, but the neighborhood kept going downhill anyway. Kids kept falling out of his classes and showing up in gangs. Or in a morgue. One night, one midnight body identification too many, something inside Sam snapped. He went home, pulled on a ski mask, a leather jacket, some speedbag gloves, and went looking for the men he knew were responsible. He tracked them back to their hang out and kicked in the door. Within minutes, the entire gang was unconscious. A quick call to the police led to their arrest, and the confiscation of many weapons and narcotics.

All in all, Sam thought it was a successful night. He wasn't sure his father would entirely agree with his methods, but Sam had been taught that sometimes you had to stand up and do what's right, no matter the cost.
