Andrew and Archibald R. Kincaid of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania
were brothers who served in the American Revolution. Andrew
married Martha Townsley; Archibald married Martha's sister, Janet.
Together, the couples with their children migrated to Bath County,
Kentucky where they set up one household. Eventually, each
family would include at least ten children and their descendants
would move west across the United States. The Kincaids would
become significant pioneers in a number of locales, particularly
throughout Illinois.
There is a great deal of confusion about Andrew and Archibald.
There is no conclusive indication of who their parents were.
In the 1790 will of George Kinkead of Cumberland County,
he names as his executors his nephews, Andrew and Archibald.
However, George and his wife, Jean, also had a son named Andrew
which some sources confuse with the brother of Archibald. There
were also several Archibald Kincaids in the region.
Many of the Kincaid family today base their family trees on a
genealogy entitled "Deep Roots", published in 1964 by
Sallye Lathram Hines of Lexington, Kentucky. She places Andrew
and Archibald as the lost sons of a George Kincaid who was one
of the famous four Scottish brothers who arrived in Virgina in 1745.
There seems to be no documentation for this and it is in doubt.

Archibald Kincaid, and to provide a forum and meeting place
for their descendants.
