| 10. | I've started reading the labels on my food, and am even considering taking some of the measures prescribed by Dr. Weil. |
| 9. | Thanks to a maintainer of a Caroline in the City web page, I now know that the song is Private Conversation by Lyle Lovette, and I have purchased the CD. |
| 8. | Before my nanny charge was even
born, I had a dream in which I and all of the baby's family had misplaced
the infant, and we were frantically looking under beds and seat cushions
to locate the child. This has not yet become a reality, but as the baby
become increasingly more mobile, it may be she who misplaces us if I'm
not careful. |
| 7. | I did it! Not only did Martin come see me in the spring, but I found myself fortuitously unemployed for the last week in August so I spent it with Martin in Maine and with my aunt and uncle in New York. When I get my pictures developed, I'll put some here. |
| 6. | It's not much, but I did write a letter to the editor that I thought was fun, the papers, however, didn't print it, so here it is. This is not to say that my writing efforts are completed for the year, but until I do something else, this will serve to allow me to check off this number. |
| 5. | Way back a whole six or seven years ago when I started this Top Ten New Year's Resolutions list tradition, I made a reference to a Monty Python skit. Remember the Australian Bruce's? Well, they list off some rules, but one rule goes, "Rule number 5: There is no Rule number 5." I have since learned that is not rule number five that there is no rule for. I have, however, continued to omit Resolution number 5. It's getting old, and so next year I WILL do a resolution number five. See if I don't. |
| 4. | This is just a product of my
own bad mood on New Year's Day owing to a relationship that was not going
altogether swimmingly(or perhaps they were, if someone tells you essentially
to "go jump in lake." I expect that things are going either swimmingly
or sinkingly). At any rate, I was simply reminding myself to be both careful
and realistic, although in it's wording, the resolution could almost be
paraphrased "Whatever will be, will be." which is no resolution at all.
Therefore I'll probably count this one as accomplished no matter what happens. |
| 3. | Most of my freinds are now somewhat farther away. I find myself "appreciating" them retrospectively, as it were. Clear night skys do not exist in the city, but I hope to rectify this by getting out of the city on occasion. I do, however, enjoy the company of one particular laughing child, although she also cries with some frequency, which I find to to less than enjoyable, but perhaps when her teeth come in, she'll have more to smile about(and with). As for slinkies-I'm living in a single story house, but I did use my slinkies in resolution numer 2. |
| 2. | Result: Neither the Original Slinky nor the Original Super Slinky has the stride sufficient to clear an escalator step, at least not wide stepped escalators. I will, therefore, be unable to determine if a slinky is fast enough to go down un up escalator until I either find an uncrowded, narrow stepped escalator, or until they make and Extra Super Slinky capable of navigating the wide escalator steps. |
My desk, all umpteen pounds of
it, has been relocated from Columbus to Cleveland with a minimum of difficulty
thanks to my dad and my grandfather's truck. Now all of my friends in Columbus
who have helped me move in the past can breath a sigh of relief now that
the behemoth is out of their juresdiction. And it was all done with no
invervention by the Furniture Liberation Front. Evidently they don't know
about my tiffany stand and two chairs which still sit in darkness and solitude
in my storage area. And don't you tell them, either. |

| 1. | "I want to ride my bicycle,
I want to ride my bike." So far so good. As of mid June I've biked around Euclid and gone from Euclid to Mentor and back twice. This past September I biked almost all the way from Euclid to my father's house, a few hours of riding. Of course now it's getting colder, and my excersise will be limited to punching in channels on the remote. Even so, my cousins have Primestar, and some of those numbers are three digits, so I'll still be getting my daily workout in, right? |
as it were Sure, I know, it doesn't really mean anything, but it's fun to say, and it's fun to use, and if you're trying for a minum of content with a maximum of words, it's a very useful phrase.
