I dated the postcards by the following methods, listed in the order of my preference:
1) If available, I used the postmark date.
2) If the postcard was not postmarked, but I knew of a used copy of the same postcard or a different one from obviously the same series, then I used that postmark year.
3) If known, I used the production date (or date range) from the manufacturer.
4) Finally, if all else fails, I used the generally accepted date range for the postcard type. Furthermore, if known, I used the date (or date range) the subject existed to narrow this date down further.
