I'm the tall blonde on far right....

Hi, my name is Jean Ribbeck and I have raised chickens on our family farm for about eight years.  My first flock was what is called Easter Egg Chickens, a cross of either Araucana or Ameraucana and other breeds.  They lay mostly blue, green and khaki eggs.

In the fall of 2004 I became interested in the Ameraucana Chicken.  It is a pure breed and it is recognized by the APA.  The Ameraucana only lays a blue or blueish green egg.  It has a beard, muff and tail.  They come in eight recognized colors;  blue, black, white, buff, wheaten, blue wheaten, silver and brown-red.  The Ameraucana has slate (blue/grey) or black legs (on blacks and blues only) with white on the bottoms of the feet.  They have pea combs, red ear lobes and almost no wattle.  The eye color is bay and beaks should be black or horn (natural) color not yellow.

I have since gathered a collection of quality breeding stock and exhibition birds in the blue, black, buff, white, silver, wheaten and blue wheaten varieties.  I also have splash and splash wheaten birds.  I will be offering a limited amount of eggs in 2009.

In November 2007 my husband shelled out a hefty sum and I got a new "chicken facility".  We currently have eight breeding pens set up and are working on establishing a lavender variety.

I am very excited to announce that in 2009 I will begin my term as the Western District Director of the Ameraucana Breeders Club.
