Canada, One Penny, Bank Token, 1854, KM# Tn3 (plain 4 variety). Obverse: St. George slaying the dragon. On the ground line, RK & CO.[Rowe, Kentish, & Co.] Around, BANK OF UPPER CANADA. Reverse: The old arms of Upper Canada, which seems to have incorporated two cornucopiae, a sword, an anchor, a wreath, an arrow, and a tomahawk/peace pipe. Above, a crown; to the right, a portion of a flag. These were struck at Heaton's Mint, in Birmingham. Many were never circulated and were eventually melted for bullion. Fine+, but holed on the reverse, above the crown. The hole does not penetrate to the obverse..........................$5.00 |
