Purtis Creek State Park

Located 12 miles north of Athens, Texas on FM 316 3miles northeast of Eustace. In the 1,566 acre park, this 355 acre unique lake is “catch and release” for bass only. Largemouth bass (3 to 9 pounds), bluegill (state record), crappie and catfish are abundant. A 50 boat limit including float tubes are allowed. Trout are stocked December through February in the trout ponds below the dam.
